In the Electrical Schematic of the WC800-DM4, it looks as if wires were doubled up including the 40 amp breakers. Could one safely get away with using 2 80 Amp breakers and use 10 awg wire instead of 12 awg? Not to mention fewer wires going to the motor controller.
Your help is greatly appreciated?

The reason we use two 12 AWG wires and 2 40 amp breakers is to accommodate the current. 12 AWG wire has a limit of 41 A DC before it starts to fail. The limit for 10 AWG is 55A DC, meaning the wire would start to fail before the breakers trip.To answer your question, I would suggest not going with the single 10 AWG wire mainly because the wire will fail before the breaker will trip. In the event of a short, or if the motor draws too much power, the wire could burn up, and start a fire within the chassis.
