hello,
i got four of the
IG42 24VDC 122 RPM Gear Motor with Encoder
motors and when i measure how many pulses two of them produce i get different values..
is it normal that one of them is actually slower than the other?thank u
April 1, 2015 at 10:41 am #2252SuperDroidKeymasterYes. No two motors are exactly alike. There are variances in manufacturing and then you will have variances in motor wiring and then you’ll also have variances in the load on the motors.
This is why speed control is important and you will need to make use of the feedback from the encoders to adjust the power being sent to the motors.

April 1, 2015 at 11:36 am #2255SuperDroidKeymasterI would keep them controlled connected in parallel. You may want to consider coupling the sides with a chain to ensure that they spin at the same speed. At that point you will only need to monitor one encoder on both sides.
