    Hi,

    I have a robot using 2 x Power-Sonic PS-1290 12 Volt 9 Amp Hour wired in Parallel (18 Amp).

    1) Can i still use this charger ? My question is due to batteries in parallel versus the charger knowing when the battery is full charged.

    2) Does the charger include any protection fuses ?

    3) How can i detect when the charger finishes the charging ? For example if the robot monitors the battery level (V), is possible to detect the full charge while plug in to the charger ?

    Thank you
    Pedro

It’s best to charge batteries independent, especially if they are not evenly discharged. Even if you run it in parallel, a 10A charger is too much for only 18Ar battery. You have to look at the specifications of the battery for maximum charge rates, but typically its a 1/3 of the ampacity, so a 3A charger would be better suited. We have a 3A smart charger (TE-133-612). The chargers have a red status light when its charging, the light turns green when its fully charged.
