Honestly, I never messed with that setting. I discovered it when this problem came up and I was digging into the controller. You have just clarified my conundrum with the issue. So it is definitely not a battery issue, but a Roboteq motor controller configuration saving issue.

I cannot save my changes to the controller and yes I do hit save it to…[Read more]

So I ran an experiment where I reduced the under-voltage limit from 28v to 25v and the motors run for a lot longer. This means that the under-voltage error is causing the motors to sputter and stop. So it goes from 29v to 28v in a few seconds…That does not seem normal. I will continue to check the wires.

Well when the voltage reaches 28.1V it kinda dies. So technically not full discharge. I have a voltmeter will run some more tests.

I tested the other battery. It is the same problem. It discharges too fast and dies.

All the connections seem to be proper. A lot of them are glued on so they have not moved from their location especially on the roboteq. The single battery is doing exactly the same thing. The charge is at 29V after charge and it quickly discharges as I run the motors in a few seconds and drops down to 28.1V then the motors slow down then stop. I…[Read more]

I just did. It still shows 28.2V and reads as undervolt on roboteq roborun+. I will charge one of the batteries to see how it works.

    Hey, Thanks for getting back.

I did not make any changes to the wiring the robot came with. I have added a shell around the base robot which is the biggest modification. I am not sure which battery is not holding a charge. When I checked the batteries voltage both report 28v.

    Hello,

So I have finally completed my build encountering numerous issues. Now the base robot from SDR is having some trouble. It has worked perfectly for the past three months.

    1. The battery is constantly going to undervolt and I cannot sustain prolonged operation of the robot. I am not sure if the batteries are not charging correctly. The…[Read more]

Thanks for getting back. I think I will try to solder the encoders from the motors to the board..This way I reduce the wires. I am using the IG42 motors that came with the robot. Thanks.

    Hi,

So I bought the pullup boards and I was wondering what is the size for the smaller 4pin connector? The breakout board and the pull-up board have a different arrangement for v,g,b, a. So I need to manually connect them. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Hi, I meant to say one for each motor encoder, which is a total of 2 pull-ups. We will place the order asap.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Ok, that sounds good. SDR built the chassis. The motors are IG42 24VDC. I will order the pull-ups. I am assuming I need 2 of them for each motor.

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting back.
So I have the 5V, GND, A, and B for each of the motor assembly connected to the dual encoder buffer board on my robot. So do you recommend I take it off the dual encoder buffer board and make the connections directly to the MDC2460 encoder input? It does have 5V so I don’t think I will be needing the resistor circuit.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back. So the layout for the MDC2460 encoder is as follows:
    pin 1: 5V
    pin 2: Enc1A
    pin 3: Enc1B
    pin 4: Enc2A
    pin 5: Enc2B
    pin 6: GND

How would I go about connecting it to the buffer board? 5V and GND are obvious. How do I connect the rest specifically Enc~?

    Hi,

I am trying to get encoder data from my motors. The Dual break out buffer board is already hooked up to the encoder cables from the motors. Do I connect the motor controller encoder output which is beside the rs232 port to the breakout board or connect it to the Jetson? It is unclear what S1, S2, MOS1, MOSO mean. Please help.

    Hi,

Just received my RS232 to USB converter and the female solder pot connector. What is the correct wiring for the adapter? Is it similar to the GPS manual pin 2 to Tx, pin 3 Rx, and pin 5 for GND? what do I do with the power cable?

    Thanks

Thanks a lot for the information. I will purchase the two items from SDR and test it out. I am having trouble getting my serial ports to communicate with devices so resorting to USBs. I am running into that issue with my Pololu Minimu v5 right now. Does it need some kind of converter as well?
