We are in the process of updating the support pages and adding a lot of schematics. The best thing is to send in a custom robot request and let us know what you need and have us assemble it. The arduino gets its power from the same 24V source the motors do, it does not add to 29V??? You can not hook the arduino straight to 24V, the regulator…[Read more]

When selecting the batteries for the your robot there are certain things to consider.
Voltage: Some of our kits have 12V and 24V motors. If you are using 24V motors, you will need a 22.2V or greater battery for voltage or run two 12V batteries in series.
Capacity (Ahrs): The next thing is run time. All our motors have a data sheet…[Read more]

The item you need to add to this is the base. If you want batteries and controller to you need to select them (the are defaultly unselected on the item page). We do not offer the base as an option because its really a DIY setup and you can make the base as you need it. It can be a simple piece of wood. Just cut it any width as long as you have…[Read more]

A customer recently asked:
I was looking at (TP-046-000) (custom length, 4wd, IG52 SB) with selected motors, wheels, batteries and controller.
But I don’t know if those sides (TD-081-000: custom length ATR side) come with the chassis or how that works.
Where to put the battery and is the battery holder included. What would we have to provide?

Yes, the Arduino can control this platform. It will interface directly with the motor controller to drive the motors. You put the two left motors on one channel and the two right motors on the other channel. You will want to use the Sabertooth 2×25 or 2×32, the 2×12 RC is limited in its interface and will be undersized with a 20lb load. You…[Read more]

These are all tell tale signs of a noisy system. We have lots of support topics on noise. Check for ground loops. Try capacitors across the motors. Shielded wires for the motors. Shielded wires for the serial signal. Short runs for the serial and control signals. Ferrite beads. Make sure the xbee is far away from motors and other…[Read more]

The biggest challenge will be getting it to turn in the sand. With 100+ pound cooler it will require a lot of power. I’d recommend doing something with wheelchair motors, and probably a wheeled platform instead of tracks. Tracks will help prevent high-centering but will add a lot of cost and complication to the design. You might be able to…[Read more]

The wheel chair motors we carry have 6 mounting holes that are threaded. They work well. Nothing else is needed. The brake lever can be removed. http://www.superdroidrobots.com/shop/item.aspx/dg-158a-24vdc-135-rpm-wheel-chair-motor-pair/1531/

Unfortunately that is a lot of power and voltage… They definitely have more features than you probably need, but that is all we have that will work with that voltage and amperage.

you can use a motor controller that is rated for 36+ volts and just not output 100%. Wheel chair motors are a lot of current. We have RoboteQ motor controllers that will handle the voltage and should be OK for the current, but you will have to make sure by looking up the details on the…[Read more]
