Hi. The HD2 is a tactical remote surveillance robot. The controls are a proprietary encrypted protocol. It was not designed to be modified by the end user. If you want to make the robot autonomous, you will have to remove the radios, etc. and just talk straight to the motor controller. There is nothing we can support, and obviously will void…[Read more]

It is real bad as a driving camera. The latency is real bad if you are transmitting back to your phone etc via wifi. Anything over a second makes driving real difficult (ie you turn and the video wont show the turn for a second or 2 later…)

Today’s topic is going to be about tread length, tensioning and adjustment. We have received a lot of
questions asking about custom tracks and how to select the right one for your application.

The SST is as simple a robot we could make. its not sealed. The control is RC and the video feed is tethered. we can make it all tethered, but its a real simple low cost robot. it will also likely have trouble pulling the weight of a 500ft tether.
There are multiple ways we can tether. We can tether to a remote control box with a LCD screen.…[Read more]

Thanks for getting back to me.
I’ve browsed through the inspection robots and there are a few which I’m interested in, namely the treaded pipe and duct inspection robot and the SST inspection robot. What I’d like to know more about at this stage is the camera on both of these and the quality of the images that will…[Read more]

We get a lot of interest for inspection robots. We have sold many stock and custom robots for that very sort of thing. Inspection robots are just what they sound like. They allow you to inspect an area, region, space, etc. that is typically too difficult to get to, hazardous, or dangerous. The inspection can be audio, visual, sensor…[Read more]

The best way to get all the costs down, etc. is just add what you want with the configuration options of the robot kit. Use the online shopping cart. Checkout. There are many areas during checkout for comments for addition things you want (like custom chain reduction, etc.). The cart may or may not calculate shipping depending on address,…[Read more]

Lithium batteries have a lot of potential (good and bad), To date they are not taking into account the many different chemistries of the batteries. All are just lumped into Lithium Battery category. LiFEPO4 is a lot more stable than staring Lithium and can take more defects and abuse before causing issues. However, we as the shipper have to…[Read more]

The Arduino system only takes one packet type. If you look at the Arduino code we gave you, in the file WifiATRInterface.h you will see the packet structure (rxPacket). The relevant bytes in that packet for your robot are:
rxPacket.driveChar — forward/back movement
rxPacket.turnChar — rotation
rxPacket.panChar — left/right…[Read more]SuperDroid replied to the topic Command set for the RoboteQ controller in the forum Electrical & Controls 8 years, 9 months ago
It will not take commands to “move 2 feet at 30 degrees.” You would need to give it a mix of drive/turn/strafe to get it to move in the right direction and you could monitor the encoder pulses using the data in the return packet to figure out how far you’ve moved. The encoder data is returned for each wheel; these are the bytes called FR_a, FR_b,…[Read more]

As far as the batteries, the K2 batteries are great. You can run two 24V batteries in parallel to get ~20Ahr. we are out of stock right not, but have more than 60 on order, should be here in a week or two. http://www.superdroidrobots.com/shop/item.aspx/k2-25-6v-lifepo4-battery-pack-9-6ahr/1140/
we also have these that work well too. they…[Read more]

Yes we can change it some. no more than 14 to 24. 14 is the smallest that will fit on the motor shaft. 24 is going to be real close to rubbing the chassis with the chain. Just let us know when you place the order what chain reduction you want and we can make it happen. no cost impact for the non standard chain reduction.

OK, thank you.
Alas the 80 RPM motors are a bit too slow for us (we need to run at 150 ft/min, and with the 80 RPM we computed a speed of 140 ft/min), so I think we will stay on the 136 RPM. But maybe we could use another mean of reduction … Is it possible to choose another chain drive reduction (standard is rated at 14:21) ?…[Read more]

180 lbs is pushing it, but will likely be OK. If it’s smooth surfaces and 136 RPM motors, it will have a better chance. Should also chain couple the left axles and the right axles, so the two motors per side can work tougher (an option under assembly on the item page). Lithium batteries are recommended for the reduction of weight. Running…[Read more]
